Cane here on a Sunday right at noon to a half empty restaurant so we were sat right away. Even though the restaurant wasn't full the place had a bustling feel to it. The decor is cute and a little hokey but I like it. It lends itself well to the laid back greasy spoon feeling of the service, which I must say was fabulous. I had the potato skins & eggs which they were more than happy to switch out the bacon for avocado for me (even though it says on the menu no substitutions). It was delicious and I enjoyed it very much.

Cowgirl is a decent breakfast spot, about a block from the Paso city park. I went on the recommendation of the hotel desk clerk. Nearby parking is easy in the morning. Sort of a western theme to the decor (surprise, right?), but by decor I really just mean "stuff hung on the white walls." A little more expensive, actually, than what I expected from Yelp. You *can* get breakfast for $5.99, but it's just one daily special, so there's no actual choice. When I was in, it was one piece of french toast and an egg. Other than that, you're looking at around 10 bucks (which I feel like is kinda pricey for breakfast but hey, it's a tourist town). Avocado's cheap, though, and I like that they didn't up-charge to add some monterey jack... There's a small counter off to one side of the restaurant, which is where I sat. One other male customer at the counter (seemed like a regular) made something of a rude/sexist remark to the waitress. When she came back, he said, "See, I knew you'd be back to talk to me." She responded: "I don't *want* to talk to you, but it's my job." Kudos to her for that :) It's a breakfast diner with your usual breakfast fare, good enough, but I'll probably try another place tomorrow.

We came here based on a personal recommendation, so I was uncomfortable to report back that we were disappointed. It always concerns me when the food comes out of the kitchen *really* fast! The bacon was not fresh. I think it was cooked ahead of time, perhaps even on a different day. It was tough like beef jerky. My home potatoes had a minimal amount of onions and bell peppers, were dusted with paprika, dry and had no flavor. They certainly were not fresh either, since the potatoes were room temperature. It is hard to go wrong with scrambled eggs, but they were flavorless. My husband's chorizo and eggs were fine; he was not wowed, but not disappointed. His comment about the home potatoes matched mine. Service was average. Décor: Country-theme.
(2)Elia B.
Had the crispy chicken Caesar salad. It was so good. I will go back and try some of their other items.
(4)Michael D.
The epitome of a great Northern California diner! Service is lightning fast, super friendly, and the food is down home good! I had the Giddy Up Breakfast my first time here and the Eggs Benedict the second. Both were awesome, cooked to perfection, get your engines going good. Lots of locals here always. An indication this is a Paso Robles fave, and I see why!
(5)Tawny S.
This place is a must when you are in Paso.. Portions are big, prices are low and the staff is super friendly. The food here reminds me of "mom's home cookin".
(5)Jason L.
great place, good food, and great service, I must have come on a good day according to some of the reviews I have read. I was expecting the amount of food to be as much as some of the places down south were you can only finish half of a half order (6 egg omlets.....)
(5)Matt C.
delicious, inexpensive, good size portions and great service. I got the fish burger with homemade potato salad. The wonderful part was the homemade tartar sauce. Great touch. Good job Cowgirl Cafe.
(5)Nate R.
So far so good, good coffee, good prices, friendly service, next the food. ..................
(4)J. G.
So 2 stars is I have had better... I have had better. I have probably had worse too but honestly this place is a never to return to again just like Joe's in PR. I don't get the rave reviews. The food was first of all not hot and my cheese was still the shredded bagged cheese on top of my egg. The potatoes were not even hot. So there is a precooked thing going on. Ambiance: 2 (out of 5) Service: 4. Server came back was pleasant Restroom: 1 (not cleaned properly) The restaurant was clean but just not interesting. The ambiance was off (not sure how to explain it). I guess I expect a good breakfast for $10 and it just really wasn't all that.
(2)Rob O.
Yes, they can be busy on the weekend... Yes, it can be slow... But it is TRULY a "down-home cooking" experience once you dig in. Bring patience and a good appetite. I never order chicken-fried steak anywhere... But here! And the country sausage patty is absolutely amazing too!
(5)Hannah E.
The server was as sweet as she could be and the food was amazing. Mmm..their pancakes and omelettes are divine. I love how it is a small town feel and it reminds me of my roots in the south. Miss this place already!
(5)Nick H.
Wow. We were in a rush, but the Cowgirls were up to the challenge. That was the fastest I've ever gotten drinks and food at a dinner, and the place was not empty by a long shot. But the quality was incredible! Fantastic food, good portions, friendly staff, and blisteringly quick service (if you ask them)...
(5)Morgan V.
If you like a side of eggs and sausage with your grease then this is your place. I don't particularly care for this cafe, but I have to say it has accommodated our large family breakfasts more than once, and usually with relatively fast service. Not a place I would eat myself, there are much better breakfasts in the area, but one of the few affordable options for big groups.
(3)Anna B.
This was my first time to the Cowgirl Cafe. It was clean, well priced, and convenient to the hotel we stayed at in Downtown Paso. I was with three others and we all ordered a variety of dishes. The service was a little slow, and I had to remind my waitress of a few items she forgot to bring out with our order, but she was definitely friendly. The food was pretty good and cooked to order, but nothing spectacular. I will try other places in the area for breakfast the next time I go to Paso, but I would be totally okay to return to Cowgirl Cafe!
(3)Melanie S.
My second time here with hubby, I had to bump my rating to 5 star. I had their steak and eggs, it's the best I've had. The steak was cooked to perfection and was a generous cut, I had home fries and they were seasoned well with some sprinkle of peppers, over easy eggs were also perfect and the addition that made my taste buds cheer was the little tub of salsa! Wow! Te best salsa I've had, it was filled with goodness and was just a bit spicy. I spread it on top of the steak, yum! Hubby had sausage and eggs and he said it was very nicely prepared, he ate every bit. Generous portions here, we would definitely share a plate next time. Loved the flavor explosion!
(5)Jessica Z.
Good service Excellent food The best breakfast I've ever had and it was my first time there. Mmmmmmmm yum!
(5)Michelle P.
This place was recommended by our hotel. My boyfriend and I went Sunday morning after a night of beer tasting at BarrelHouse. We only had to wait about 7-10 mins for a table as it was busy. I ordered the biscuits and gravy half plate with a side of bacon. I don't remember what he had but I know it was a huge helping that he could not finish, yet we got out of there around $30 including two glasses of orange juice and coffee. On the coffee, the refills kept coming. I would go back.
(4)Jennifer L.
So good!! A must try. Everything is delicious :) please stop here when your in town! The eggs Benedict is a special they don't always have it but when they do... Order it! With a side of corned beef. Extra crispy!!
(5)Lisa S.
How is this not a five star??!! The food was yummy -- Basic breakfast stuff, great pancakes, no extra charges for egg whites or substitutions!!! And to top it off, the place is adorable (and immaculate) with all the cute western decor. Oh! And friendly staff!! Loved it!
(5)Jeff O.
As soon as I walked in I felt like I was on a camping ground ready for some breakfast. I got biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns, and eggs over easy. With the coffee and a single pancake as well I was in heaven. Classic look with old school taste.
(5)Kraig K.
On a Saturday I was the only person in there seated my self took 10 min to get a cup of coffee finally ordered got my food hash browns might as well have been still frozen eggs were cold and steak was way over cooked FYI go to joes place in paso never disappointed always sooo good
(1)Darian K.
UHHHHHH.....ONE word NO. We ate here a few weeks back and maybe I am just spoiled to the quality of Springside of Joe's but the quality of food is just downright pathetic. Like how can an establishment charge the prices they are charging and present such bland food? The hash browns tasted bizarre and everything was just so mediocre. Service was neutral nothing out of the ordinary. :(
(2)Eva H.
The best traditional breakfast ever. Simply but really good, fresh and has a real taste! Nice service :-)
(5)Cindy M.
Busy, busy, busy! They couldn't get the tables cleared fast enough to accommodate the guests!!!! Our table was sticky.....yuk. Food was good but their omelets are not really omelets.
(2)Denise B.
Busy restaurant for breakfast but worth the wait. Strawberry french toast was amazing. Very good coffee. Staff was friendly and gave great service.
(5)Michael O.
Kind of a cute place, the staff was nice and service was good. The strawberry pancakes had strawberry preserves instead of real strawberries which was a disappointment to my wife. Biscuits and gravy were tasty, but the biscuits were inconsistent on the way they were cooked harder on one and the other one soft. Had an omelette that was pretty good. Food and coffee for four of us was around $50 so not too bad.
(4)Joel L.
Great food, fresh ground coffee, outstanding customer service AND a military discount!
(5)Lilly M.
Every time I go here I get the kitchen sink omelet it is soooo delicious, the portions are great size for the price. The staff is always so polite and professional and make sure you have everything you need.
(4)Eric S.
This used to be one of my favorites to go for breakfast. Lately, however it just seems that they are slipping. The food is still good, however I could do without the burnt hashbrowns I've recieved the last couple of visits. The service itself is usually outstanding, but again on my last couple of visits it's just been normal. Example, yesterday morning our waitress walked over to our section with a pot of coffee and refilled a couple of tables, yet didn't even make eye contact with me or check on if i needed a refill...which I did by the way. Not once did she come ask how the food was, which I would have gladly informed her of the hashbrowns being burnt. I will still go back, as they are a great local diner with great food, I just wish they would pay more attention to the service aspect and make sure their customers are satisfied on each visit.
(3)Gina Q.
Ate breakfast here one morning. Definitely American and comfort food fare. Ordered the budget breakfast, which included 1 egg, 2 slices of bacon, english muffin, juice, & coffee. My husband ordered the diced ham/scrambled eggs, home fries, and a biscuit w/gravy. The home fries were okay, but could have been cooked a little more. The bell pepper and onions were warm, but not cooked. The bacon was really good. It had a nice thick cut and was flavorful. The coffee tasted a little burnt. The gravy was tasty, but my husband added more pepper. I think we'd go back the next time we're in town. I'd like to try their french toast or pancakes sometime.
(3)Alvaro_Melissa S.
Wowser I'm impressed great food, great atmosphere, and the service was superb. The wife and I will come back again.
(5)Jeremy D.
Fantastic traditional American breakfast... Highly recommend the daily special which is super cheap. Food always comes super quick, is well made and quite delicious. Also the coffee is quite good which is very important for me at a diner type restaurant. The western theme and ode to John Wayne is fun as well.
(5)Lanelle D.
My first time here and it's my favorite breakfast place so far in Paso. I really enjoyed the food. Decorations are fun and service was also great.
(5)Harsha G.
Loved breakfast here! I had the french toast, a side of eggs and pancakes. All of them super yummm! My friends had grits, the giddy up breakfast, biscuit and gravy, chicken fried steak and eggs. All of us were so stuffed that we could sing happily! Service was excellent and pricing was reasonable. The decor inviting and comfortable with neat cowgirl stuff :) Can't ask for a better place to have breakfast at!
(4)Ney-ney L.
My friend & I were passing thru this town heading to wine country. I randomly chose this place purely 'cuz of the name! I'm so glad I did. The staff were friendly and courteous. Shelby our waitress was so kind and helpful. She graciously answered our multiple questions about the area (best vineyards, where to go) and most importantly what to order. The omelets were sublime (turkey, bacon avocado=delicious). Drinks were served in Kerr glass jars and bountiful amount! The short stack of pancakes was delicious as well. If you happen to be in the area, live close by or simply passing thru, highly recommend this warm, inviting delicious place!!!!
(5)Janet T.
I gave one star because I had to. My husband ate there for breakfast (after I told him not to, never listens!) and it was horrid! He ordered the Chile Verde Omelet and it was terrible. Stringy meat, runny and soaked into his "crispy" hash browns. It had no flavor and he hated it. SOOOO, maybe next time I give him a little advise he will listen. I will always remind him of the breakfast he had at Cowgirls! My only other question is why can he tell me when something I did was wrong but not them?
(1)Holly G.
Had high hopes for this place based on the reviews and my weakness for cowboy motifs. But we were underwhelmed. We walked in and weren't sure if it was seat yourself or not. The hostess was too busy chatting with a customer to steer us in the right direction. She finally told us to sit anywhere. OK fine. We sit down and there are thumbprints on the silverware and some dried gunk on the table. Not horrible, but a little disconcerting. The front window was covered in greasy kid's handprints and smears. All of this didn't give us the feeling of cleanliness. Prices were a little high for Paso. We had the daily breakfast special and it was just OK. Toast was drowning in butter. Jelly packets on the table were the cheap corn syrup kind. Food was greasy. Certainly nothing special. Will try Vic's Cafe next time- it was our first choice, but was closed that morning.
(2)Rhoda G.
This is a local standby it seems. Every time we go it is full up. So go early. Food is simple fresh good and plenty is served. My Son who works in the area is a regular are several others you might see. Great food!
(5)Leann S.
Good diner food. (I love biscuits, but thief recipe could use work. This tast and consistency remind me of frozen food.)Chairs, table and high chairs could use a good cleaning. We will come back.
(3)S A.
Cute, clean, very pleasant breakfast stop. Had the eggs and chorizo scramble. Was good. Hubby had sausage and eggs. Asked for eggs over medium. They were over easy. Other than that all was basically good. We'll definitely visit again next time we're in town. Worth checking out.
(3)Aimee W.
I've been there a handful of times. Decent food, service is sub-par. Not my first choice. The bus boy is the nicest guy ever!
(2)Erick H.
Horrible !! Keep walking. In town on vacation and figured it looked busy so why not try it out .... Service was good but food and drinks were horrible!! Ordered ice tea but for the first time in my life I couldn't drink it. Looked like delta water !!! I'm out !
(1)Sandra R.
Came here twice for breakfast while visiting Paso for the weekend. Simple cafe with lots of breakfast choices and a few lunch items. They also have specials written on the chalkboard in front (missed it the second time in.) Got the usual bacon and eggs with hashbrowns. Asked for the bacon crispy and they did not disappoint. Exactly how I like it! A lot of food. We were stuffed. The next day went by there again and I ordered the potato skins and eggs. Not what I was expecting and the portion was HUGE!!! The plate consisted of potato wedges with an omelet like patty of eggs (I don't know how many eggs they used; but it sure seemed like a ton) lots of cheese sprinkled on top with sour cream and bacon bits. Lots of bacon. Definitely something you want to order if you are very hungry or splitting with someone else. I ate all the potatoes but left half the eggs. Very tasty, very filling. The service was good, prices are good and I would definitely come back. Oh, their "cowgirl sized" pancakes are huge and regular size. I would think they'd be a little smaller; but cowgirls need their fill too :)
(4)Amy P.
COWGIRL UP, AND OUT Okay so I love small cafes and I'm a really simple breakfast person. I like eggs (over medium) and hashbrowns (extra crispy) and sourdough. IF I have meat on the plate I want crispy bacon but will settle for sausage links. We stopped in here this weekend on Saturday morning. My husband had been in alone on Friday morning and told me all night what a wonderful place it was and how good the food was, how service was fast and friendly. (He gets excited about cafes too). We're foodies - it excites us to find somewhere new. After a ten minute wait we were walked to a booth with cute decorations on the wall to keep us entertained. We ordered the same thing - exactly what I described above but over-easy for his eggs. The option on the menu was sausage, not bacon, so we went with that. Thirty minutes later we asked about getting our drinks refilled and where our food was. The table of four next to us was sat after us and they were already eating. Plus, we didn't order anything fancy. I excused myself to the restroom and our food came while I was gone. Mr Amy P. said the waitress had placed the meals on the table but didn't know which was which and told him to guess. Even though he said she was being nice about it and kind of joking, ultimately she left him not knowing. Over-easy eggs with their runny whites freak me out. We didn't have to worry about this since they were both over-cooked and served with yellows hard. How do you cook eggs this bad? I'm positive the sausage was undercooked. Hubby thinks it comes precooked at places like that but he's wrong. It wasn't cooked thorougly. We had to complain. The waitress told us the cook was out today and three others were struggling to do their best, and then she comped our meal. Fully comped it without us asking (or expecting) that. So that really, really made me feel better about everything. Not great, because it ruined our morning and I left hungry and moody. But I will absolutely give it another shot. Hoping the right cook makes a world of difference.
(3)Maura O.
My favorite breakfast place in Paso Robles. Huge portions at a great price. They are open for lunch as well but since I RARELY go out to breakfast that is what I have always opted for time and time again. Check it out!
(4)Amy H.
Cutest greasy spoon I have ever been to. The decor and service were awesome, the food was pretty darn tootin for a greasy spoon. I got the potato skin omlet, the potato skins were a bit dry but the rest of the meal was actually delicious. We split the strawberry pancakes (real strawberries!) which were fluffy and hit the spot. I would say this is well worth checking out.
(4)Ralph A.
cowgirls is another great breakfast place I had one of the best 8 ounce steaks breakfast for under ten bucks! Homemade cinnamon rolls.
(3)Sy D.
I was hungry and it was 6:30 AM..dropped in and was greeted by a pleasant young lady and was immediately charmed by the smell of cooking bacon. I sat at the counter and ordered up eggs, hash browns and chicken fried steak, throw in some wheat toast and I was a happy camper. My order was ready, cooked to perfection and sat in front of me within 10 minutes. I highly recommend the Cowgirl Cafe if you happen into Paso. They have something for everyone on the menu..
(5)Renee M.
Stopped in for breakfast on our way out of Paso...but we wished we had known about this place before. Lots on the menu that we wanted to order, but decided to go with pancakes and french toast options. DELICIOUS! The bacon was cooked perfectly. I recommend ordering their biscuits and gravy as a share plate because the portions here are huge! Definitely will be eating here again! :)
(4)Frank K.
Middle America, you're hiding at this cafe! I stopped by for a quick breakfast of corned beef hash and eggs... I was not disappointed ! If you would like to step back into time, see how the locals interact here in 'Middle America', this is the place to do it. Requisite big dog in Chevy truck, parked out front , along with country music in the background, only adds to this great little breakfast place. Enjoy!
(4)Jeannie O.
Delicous and ver quick breakfast. Great meat!!
(4)Kyle S.
I cant stop thinking about this place! I drove up to Lake Naciomento for the weekend with my girlfriend and two other friends. One of my buddies, whose house we were staying at, referred us to this place. We got there around 1230 on a Saturday and we found parking in front but I think we may have gotten lucky because the spaces were limited. Anyway, we walk in and were warmly welcomed by the staff and were seated quickly. The decor is western and the restaurant was clean. We ordered two waters, an arnold palmer, and a coke. The water and arnold palmer tasted horrible. The tap water seemed to be contaminated or just dirty. We brought it to their attention and they took care of us immediately. The menu had a decent selection and everything sounded great. The four of us ordered separate items including: bacon and cheese omelette, bacon and egg breakfast, biscuits and gravy, and I ordered a sausage skillet. The skillet was not on the menu but it is my favorite breakfast item and they made it without question. Ten minutes after ordering, our food was already on our table. My mouth was instantly watering. The bacon and egg breakfast looked normal but everything else was eye candy. The bacon and cheese omelette was smothered in cheese and bacon bits. I was so jealous until I looked at mine. Hash browns, onions, and sausage topped with three fried eggs and some delicious melted cheddar cheese. I was in heaven, especially after my first bite. It tasted so fresh! My girlfriend had the biscuits and gravy and she loved it. The gravy was creamy and the biscuits were fresh. She was also in heaven. The hash browns were mind blowing. I wish I could explain how they made me feel! LOL. The sourdough toast was also fantastic. We all left the place feeling really good and craved more all day so we went back the next morning and ordered the same dishes except instead of the bacon and egg dish, my friend ordered the breakfast burrito. Re-read what I wrote above and that is exactly how the second experience was again except we stayed clear of the water. If the water was clean and the parking was better, this would be a 5 star'er in my eyes. The food was worth 6 stars! I want to drive 3 hours every morning for this breakfast. I hope you loved it as much as we did!
(4)Di R.
Okay WARNING!! This is not the place to go if you are watching your diet. The plates used to be so large you would gasp when they would serve them. Now... due to customer feedback or economics... the servings seem to have adjusted to more of a normal proportion. The description of food type would definitely be comfort type. There usually is a line on the weekends starting as early as they open but they tend to turn the tables over quickly and efficiently. I have never been disappointed & like Marisa N. suggested you can ask them to modify most things on the menu to make it a healthier selection!
(3)Don S.
YeeHaw! Cowgirl cafe rocks! Though, I'm not so sure aboout this whole cowgirl/cowboy thing. Shouldn't it be cowperson or cowcarrier, similar to how the mailman turned out? Anyway, the food was great, our server was mostly attentive, but our neighbor was less than courteous with regards to his cell phone etiquette. I guess that's not the restaurants fault, but it was still rather annoying. We don't live close by, but I'll still come back again. Food was great, and prices were reasonable. Giddyup!!
(4)Sean S.
This place was ghastly! It was like the malformed offspring of an incestuous union between Denny's and IHOP (Thanks April). My girlfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy, which was a mountain of unrecognizable gelatinous substance. The gravy was a congealed mass of gnarsty. Good news and bad news: Bad news is it's inedible, good news is there's a lot of it! I ordered the Oatmeal. Now... it's pretty hard to eff up oatmeal, I've gotta say! Yet somehow, they pulled it off. It was like the cook used hot tap water to try and make instant oatmeal. It came out still kinda raw and was just funky. Whatever... it was a year ago when we went there and I will not go back, but I still felt compelled to share about it. I'll give them a star for the ambiance which was very cowgirl-ish, and for our poor server who had the look of an abused pet in her eyes, and the decency to not charge us for our beverages.
(1)Maria J.
We ordered the chicken fried steak (great portion) and the chorizo and eggs. 4-star on the food but only a 3-star on the service. Waitress was nice but was not on top of the coffee refill, coffee was very weak and what really did it for me was the annoying flies circling around our food and table, disgusting. The establishment was clean and open, very comfortable. We would give it a second chance!
(4)Thomas T.
The food was good for being a coffee house, and the service was very friendly and attentive. The Prices were also very reasonable and they have daily specials at $5.99. I would recommend a Safety breakfast here before you start walking around Paso Robles to do some wine tasting.
(4)Shanna K.
Sorry, but this joint was awful. It's clearly the locals spot to eat in town so I was expecting (and I appreciate) a good diner, even if it's a dive, but both the food and service here was horrible. Good diners have quick and cheerful service, keep your coffee refilled, have hot hearty breakfasts and get you the check quickly so you can get back to business. They do not seat you next to the local foul-smelling bum/town drunk who you saw screaming at people in the street last night and whom they let hang out as long as he wants, have spoiled cream on the table, take forever with your order, have gluey powdery tasting pancakes, make you flag them down over and over for refills and are pokey with the check. They weren't even that busy... it was a Friday mid-morning so there were about 5 tables full in the place. No excuse and just downright rude. I'd rather get an Egg McMuffin and call it a day.
(1)M D.
This place was recommended by some friends in the area and it was worth the drive. The food was great - we had an omelet and the chicken fried steak - both top notch. Coffee was great - service was awesome. I used to go to Margie's when in Paso - non we're headed to Cowgirl each time!
(5)Emily C.
I recently decided to change my SoCal-SanJose lunch stop spot from Kettleman City to Paso Robles. So I was there last Thursday and after I walked the driving kinks out, I started looking for food. I walked past a number of them before I saw "Cowgirl Cafe," and I said to myself, "Yeehaw! Time to rustle up some grub!" and some other nonsense that I may or may not be too embarrassed to repeat here. I sat down (after a visit to the little cowgirl's room, obviously) and ordered the special (cheeseburger with fries). My food came pretty quick (yay!) but that was when my excitement started to wane. It was hamburger with non-hamburger filler. They are lucky I am not a real cowgirl, because if I was, I'da been in a killin' mood. I mean, goddamn! What kinda cowgirl wants to take a break from dealing with all these cows, sit down for a little meal, and not even get to eat some revenge upon a cow? Not me, not if I was a cowgirl. But I'm not. So instead of standing up, pullin' out my six-shooter, and hollerin', "Who's in charge, here!", I paid my bill and left. My advice? Take your hard-earned dollars somewhere else.
(2)Ashley M.
I'm a fan of both this Cowgirl Cafe, as well as the one in Atascadero and Nipomo. All three are great. Good biscuits and gravy, pancakes, french toast, etc. BEST hot chocolate. I don't know if they use a powder or not, but it's delicious! I've been stopping by Cowgirl for just a hot chocolate for 6 years now when I get the craving.
(5)Paul W.
Our family drove through Paso Robles on our vacation this summer and were really hungry for a good breakfast. I found the Cowgirl Cafe on Yelp and we were not disappointed! The food is good home cooking and in large portions. I wish I could remember our server's name because she was great also. Our family highly recommends the Cowgirl Cafe!
(5)Hoyt L.
Service was quick and friendly. Food was just ok, nothing special. Quanities are large, so come hungry. The water and tea are kinda nasty, so get a different beverage.
(3)Eric K.
Splitting hairs between Paso Robles resaurants my family of 5 sampled 3 of the most popular breakfast venues over the 11/11-11/13 weekend. Unanimously we ranked the Cowgirl Cafe number 2 out of 3. It was close, very close. The Cowgirl lost points for coffee and hashbrowns by 2 of our members. Truthfully, you'd be hard-pressed to get a dissapointing meal at the cowgirl.
(4)Chelsea H.
Best breakfast place in town. They will feed you. Good lord will they feed you....
(5)eva marie d.
Alright!! Well....have I EVER had to put my foot in my mouth! I gave this place ONE MORE chance, third time must have been the charm because it happens to be one of my favorite places to have breakfast. I discovered their chicken fried steak with eggs and biscuits are freaking heaven on a plate! Also they make some of the fluffiest and most delicious blueberry topped pancakes. Don't forget to try the breakfast burrito's either, huge and perfect for sharing. I am glad we gave it another shot because if there is one way to my heart it is a perfectly cooked chicken fried steak!
(4)Marisa N.
We came here last Sunday for breakfast. Cowgirl Cafe delivers 5 Star Service, 5 star food which comes out in ightning speed. As other Yelpers have commented this isn't the "healthiest" place to grab breakfast, however, we were able to find something on the menu that was not over-indulgent. We both ordered omelets with egg whites, and veggies, w/ light cheese. While most items are quite heavy, a healthy eater will be able to find something to modify on the menu to eat. Wish we would have gone here Saturday, instead of the Paso Robles Inn (where our breakfast was awful), and then we could have enjoyed this place 2 days in a row.

If you're looking for hearty food and lots of it, stop by the Cowgirl Cafe. Yes, the decor is kitsch-plus. Yes, they have local businesses advertising all over the menu. And yes the TV in the corner is always tuned to CMT. However, the food is fresh and the service is friendly. We started our morning with mimosa (fresh squeezed OJ) and fluffy omelets. They offer lots of breakfast options that all fall under the heading of comfort food, so bring your appetite (and check your attitude at the door since your liable to run into the staff round town during yourvisit). I loved that their "diet plate" was a HALF-pound hamburger patty w/o the bun. BTW, the biscuits are great sans gravy with a little butter and jelly.

What a time warp! Apparently fat, cholesterol and ensuing health problems are not issues that concern the local population of Paso Robles. Virtually every item was loaded with cheese, heavy on the guacamole, or smothered in a vile looking gravy. Despite this, the food, though in huge portions was just ordinary. The biscuit made from a mix. The scrambled eggs on the one of the specials, was fairly tasteless to the point that I even considered dousing them in ketchup. Guess if portion size makes you happy, this is the place to go...

Best pancakes I have ever had. Also had the biggest breakfast I have ever had. For 10 bucks I got a 3oz piece of steak, 2 eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits with gravy and coffee. Boyfriend and I went dressed in our usual city folk gear: designer jeans, heels and big ol' sunglasses..... annnnnd we looked like douchebags. This place is a true locals place with a country theme with warm waitresses. I must reiterate: the pancakes here are AMAZING. TRY IT!

I don't see what the big deal is about this place. Eggs and pancakes and the usual suspects...

Cute place with huge portions of classic diner food. Biscuits and gravy, pancakes, omelets...

Looking for somewhere to eat that isn't expensive, sure, eat here. Don't expect to much, and don't be afraid to try their bloody Mary. You get what you pay for, and that's just fine for the morning after a day of wine tasting.

Stumbled upon the Cowgirl Cafe for breakfast. By far, the best time to visit, the potato skin w/eggs and bacon was the best ever. So good, that on the flip side of our visit up north, we stopped in for lunch. Hours aren't long, and we skidded in there with just minutes to spare before closing (2pm). The staff was more than accommodating, and served up our grub. Lunch was good, I would prefer a real hamburger and not the fab kind, but the fries made up for it. Great service, these cowgirls deserve a round of applause! I'm not sure when, because it's a bit of a drive from So Cal., but we'll be back for breakfast ~ fo' sure!

As advertised good home cooking and lots of it. Huge portions, you will not go away hungry.

OK, we're writing a review of the Cowgirl cafe! Sunday morning there's a half hour wait. This is probably the happening breakfast spot in downtown Paso, about half the crowd is local. The service is pretty quick so the tables turn, you get your seat, and a beverage offer. Coffee is Farmers Brothers. Pancake syrup is Mrs. Butterworth's. Back in the day! The pancakes are cowgirl size, which means cow pattie size, bigger than your plate. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The sausage were those 89 cent frozen numbers. About 8 bucks. You can park in the lot to the right on the cross street. Surely a better choice than Denny or Margie.

sorry. please do not eat here. we ordered blueberry french toast and they topped it with canned blueberry... that dark blue, jelly-textured stuff!! i was appalled and i wish i just ordered a plain french toast. also, the bacon was hard and overcooked, probably had been sitting in a tin, pre-cooked before my order was even placed. although this place has the charm of the central coast and a homey country kitchen, the food just didn't do it. the coffee was good, and the omelet was decent, but for the rest of it i was very put off.

We ate here before we took off to go home after a wonderful weekend in Paso. Waitstaff is nice and always at the ready with coffee. The portions are generous, and food was good. I always love it when fresh peppers are used in a Denver Omelette. Overall, I'm happy with this place and will come back again when in town.

Servings are huge and the service is down home! Delicious food and a fair price. Friendly service.

A recent lunch stop on the way to Santa Barbara from San Jose. A few blocks off 101 at the 16th Street exit. Fun decor - all kinds of kitschy John Wayne-ish stuff on the walls. Breakfast is the specialty but the burger I had was decent. Slightly slow service but they were very friendly. Worth a visit just to see the kitsch. It appears to have been there forever.

Country atmosphere fits the City of Paso Robles. Found this cafe on our GPS and took a chance. We had delicious food with generous portions. Husband had a turkey club sandwhich with really good fries. The sandwhich had guacamole and plenty of turkey, bacon and tomato. I had bacon, sausage, eggs and pancakes.oink! oink! The pancakes were large and fluffy. The bacon and sausage were so hot I had to wait to eat them. Attentive service with reasonable prices. No checks. Close at 2:00pm. We'll be back!

My recommendation to patrons of Cowgirl Cafe: SHARE. The portions here are enormous! Huge portions of quality food at low prices earns 5 stars in my book!
